Kindergarten Klass: Say Cheese!
Today is picture day at school. Last week I bought a new shirt for Jimmy to wear in his very first school picture. When I dropped him off he looked so handsome.
But that took primping.
After breakfast he brushed his teeth. He got dressed and came to me for hair-fixing. I got out a spray bottle and wet his hair so the alfalfa sprouts would lie down. I got a dime-sized amount of mousse (which foamed up to a half-dollar amount) and ran my fingers through his hair. I accidentally got a tiny bit on his forehead because he was squirming around so much. Guess what he did . . . He took the sleeve of his brand new shirt and wiped it off! So then I had to blot and drop cold water on the foamy spot and blot some more. Luckily I got the shirt looking spotless again. But the mousse had all but dried. So I quickly grabbed the comb and went to styling, combing down the stray hairs and sprouts, making a clean part and combing it to the side. I made a masterpiece out of my five-year-old's head! As I said before, the finished product was a handsome little boy.
I really hope they get their pictures taken before lunch. Jimmy has a bad habit of using his sleeve to wipe his mouth. He can have a napkin sitting right in front of him or in his lap, yet he will still use his clothing. I guess that's just boys.
We are purchasing the "most popular" package, according to the photographer. It's an 8x10, 2-5x7s, 2-3x5s, 3 wallets and 12 exchange. It's the cheapest package that included an 8x10, which we want to frame and hang on our wall proudly. "Cheap" is $29.
When I was in school I don't even think there was a package that cost that much. I remember the most expensive package costing around $20. And we got to see the picture before deciding to buy. Today I had to send a check for $29 with Jimmy to school to pre-pay for pictures we won't get to see until we get them in our hands. What a load of crap!
But we wanted school pictures of our big boy. He's only in kindergarten once. I just hope he smiles and doesn't mess up his hair. I'll be so mad if we get the pictures and he's making a silly face with the sprouts sticking up from the crown of his head.

Hey, I ate lunch with Jackson today. They did have their pictures made before lunch and Jimmy still looked very handsome. I mentioned a kid on my blog who was being creative with his lunch...that would be your son. He seems like quite a ham. And I agree that it's crap that we have to pay for pictures before we even see them. I got the pictures cd so I can get some big ones made if they turn out worth a darn. I take Jack's pictures all the time, but I felt like I had to purchase his kindergarten pictures for sentimental reasons or whatever. So stupid!
I loved kindergarten...had some of the best times of my life there!
Ha ha!
I just had a mental image of Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes when Calvin gets his picture taken.
